Sarah McGough
Head of Technical Innovation & Shared Platforms - Computational Sciences - Genentech
Sarah is a data scientist and epidemiologist working at the forefront of healthcare and artificial intelligence. As the Head of Technical Innovation & Shared Platforms in Computational Sciences at Genentech, she drives the adoption of frontier technology, methods, and data to advance preclinical research. Sarah leads Genentech’s research collaborations with top-tier institutions such as the Alan Turing Institute and Stanford University, developing innovative methodologies for personalized healthcare.
Sarah is passionate about open science and population health. Previously, Sarah developed an open-source, real-time disease forecast algorithm which significantly contributed to the Covid-19 emergency pandemic response in partnership with the CDC and NYC Department of Health. Other key scientific contributions include keynote addresses at leading AI conferences like NeurIPS and ECML, a chapter in Greta Thunberg’s The Climate Book, and an editorial board member of the journal AI In Precision Oncology.
An advocate for science education and outreach, Sarah is an active STEM mentor in the Bay Area school districts and a member of the Royal Statistical Society’s Statisticians for Society.
Sarah holds a PhD and MS in Epidemiology from Harvard University.
