Dr. Austin Sendek is the Cofounder and CEO of Aionics, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based startup that uses artificial intelligence and quantum mechanical simulation to design new materials for energy and mobility applications. Aionics recently announced a partnership with CellForce, the battery manufacturing subsidiary of Porsche, focused on designing improved batteries for electric vehicles and more. In 2023, Aionics unveiled their ElectroBot, a LLM-based chatbot trained on scientific publications that scientists can converse with to unlock deeper research insights. Owing to these breakthroughs and others, Aionics was recognized among CB Insights’ top 100 AI companies of 2024 along companies like Open AI, Anthropic, and Databricks. Dr. Sendek is also adjunct faculty at Stanford University, where his research and teaching focuses on developing new methods in computational materials science, and he was recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 in Energy in 2019. He holds a B.S. in Applied Physics from the University of California, Davis, and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University.
